Why does stored diesel fuel need maintenance?
Stored diesel fuel begins to degrade the day it is refined. If no management programs exist, rapid diesel fuel degradation begins in as little as 30 days of delivery to a fuel storage tank. As part of the degrading process microbial organisms begin to grow and compromise the characteristics and integrity of the stored diesel fuel. All fuel requires maintenance to sustain long term reliability and should be included in your annual NFPA required preventative maintenance schedule.
Who is Patriot Clean Fuel?
Patriot Clean Fuel was started by critical facilities professionals with years of experience in back up power systems. We understand the impact of equipment that will not run and realize that fuel management is the key to preventing problems.
How is Patriot Clean Fuel's reconditioning process different from fuel polishing?
Patriot Clean Fuel's state of the art reconditioning process will remove large amounts of water; entrained or free standing and microscopic particulate from the entire contents of the vessel including dead bottom. Fuel polishing only removes particulate and typically does not reach dead bottom of the vessel. Most fuel polishing systems do not encompass the bottom third of the content in the vessel. Fuel polishing may provide the visual representation of clean fuel, but microscopic particulate and microbial growth are not always visual.
What type of fuel can Patriot Clean Fuel clean?
Patriot Clean Fuel can recondition on road diesel fuel, off road diesel fuel, jet fuel, racing fuel, ethanol, gasoline and kerosene.
How do I know that my fuel and its storage environment have been properly cleaned?
Patriot Clean Fuel ensures quality deliverables with every reconditioning process through validation testing, fuel trending and annual inspections.
What are common issues found with stored diesel fuel?
Patriot Clean Fuel finds many issues during our initial inspection of the stored diesel fuel. Common issues found are large amounts of water, microbial growth, particulate contamination, fuel degradation and foreign contamination.
How can poorly managed stored diesel fuel lead to equipment failure?
Poorly managed stored diesel fuel can compromise equipment through damaged fuel filters, fuel lines, fuel injectors, fuel rails and stresses on equipment from degraded diesel fuel not containing necessary characteristics for optimal equipment performance.
I have a built in fuel polishing system, do I still need to manage my fuel supply?
A built in fuel polishing system is only one piece of a quality fuel management program. Fuel polishing systems only remove particulate and do not encompass the entire contents of the diesel fuel storage tank. Patriot Clean Fuel's management program provides a turn-key solution to all needs.
Why wouldn't I just empty the contents of my vessel and replace with new fuel?
Extracting the contents of the vessel will remove the particulate and potential water contamination; however, many vessels have limited access and cannot be disinfected properly. Microbial contamination will remain in the tank and degrade the "new" fuel introduced into the vessel at a much faster rate.
